Little Squirt

Posted by Picasa
A few weeks ago Reese and I had a fun sleep over at a cousins house. Reese had his first water fight. This was my favorite clip of the event. She was aiming for his mouth at his request.
We also visited Hidden Pond. It has a really cute nature park with the biggest piece of petrified wood I have ever seen. Reese got to touch a snake, catch some fish in a little net, and see a lot of little animals.
We had ate lots of yummy food, stayed up late, watched a movie, and had a fantastic time!
Thank You Cousins!

New Goggles

Happy swimming Reese

He jumps off of Dylan's Shoulders...should I be nervous?

This is how he walks up to our apartment.

Goggles are still on in the Elevator.

Reese LOVES swimming! We just purchased some new super cool goggles. He loves them so much we could hardly get him to take them off!

Theodore Roosevelt Island

Posted by Picasa
I love DC! The Theodore Roosevelt Island is less than five minutes from our apartment. It’s a really fun little hike. We saw a momma duck with her baby ducklings, frogs, and a baby turtle.
Reese had a fun time despite the fact that he made Dylan or I carry him the entire time. I am wondering if he might be having growing pains in his legs. Usually we can’t keep up with him.
The only hard part is I don’t feel like we can go back there are so many other fun places to see.

Lyon Village Park

We found a new park. I love play grounds. This one is well equipped with a water feature, large playground, good old fashioned sand box, and cool spin toys. Dylan and I even got to play.

National Aquarium in Baltimore

Last Monday Dylan had the day off so we went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. We experienced the 4D Theater. Reese was so excited about the bubbles he quit worrying about the water and air being squirted in his face. He learned that the best way to enjoy 4D is on mom’s lap.

The dolphin show was ok. I think we have been spoiled by Sea World.

The frog exhibit was by far the favorite. We could not pull Reese away from the poison dart frogs. Did you know that the poison dart frogs are not poisonous in captivity? They are only poisonous because of the bugs they eat. Hmmm maybe we should get one for a pet.

Independence Day

We had A Capitol Fourth of July this year. At least that was the name of the dress rehearsal we went to on the Third. They have a free concert on the lawn of the Capitol each year in DC. We saw Taylor Hicks, Huey Lewis and the News, Jerry Lee Lewis, and a few other performers. It was a really great time. Reese had fun dancing and waving the flag. I was happy we missed the rain and the ½million people that showed up at the mall the night of the 4Th.

On Independence Day we went to the annual Flag Ceremony the Arlington ward and enjoyed a yummy breakfast. After a super long nap we had some friends over and watched the fire works from our balcony. I really love the view from our apartment, the fire works were amazing.

Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon is the home of George Washington. We spent a fun filled Saturday learning all about George and his family. We took a boat ride on the Potomac River and passed by a fort. Dylan likes forts.
Reese really enjoyed seeing all of the animals. He made a new friend while playing in George's back yard. Reese loves people. Everyone we meet is his friend. Just like his dad.
I loved the tour of the house. It was exciting to see where the first president of the United States lived and died.

The View

The White House... Can you see the Temple?

Lincoln Memorial. Our apartment is just under the rain drop, Red brick

The view from the bottom.

Our friends went really early in the morning and stood in line to get tickets to go inside the Washington Memorial. Thank You Karen and Joe! It was spectacular.

Bureau of Engraving and Printing

The same day we went to the Jefferson Memorial we got tickets to tour the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It was really interesting to see how they really make money. I was surprised to see that Reese really enjoyed the tour as well. It was funny to see Reese standing by one million dollars in tens, then to realize he would rather have that big penny in his hand. Ignorance is bliss!

Jefferson Memorial

We went to the Jefferson Memorial two weekends ago. I’m having a hard time keeping up. Reese walked up with Dylan first. All he could say is “it’s a big man in there”. I am thankful for our Founding Fathers. Thomas Jefferson was indeed a big man.

Little Reese

I miss little Reese!

Discovery Room

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History...Discovery Room. This is one of the first museums we went to when we fist got here. Reese really liked the dinosaurs, animals, and fish. His favorite by far was the Discovery Room. It had a little bit of everything. That is a real human skeleton my son is touching. They also had a human skull he played with, he quickly put it down when he saw the jaw was not attached. I'm pretty sure he thought he broke it.
